Shooting at St Ledgers
Ashby St Ledgers Shoot is run over 2500 acres of undulating mixed arable and dairy farmland all of which is in the countryside stewardship scheme with over 25 kilometres of grass margins benefiting game and other wildlife. A 14 acre lake surrounded by woodland dominates the northern end of the shoot whilst the more open undulating south and eastern part is more suited to partridge only (early season) and mixed drives later on. Around thirty drives are available, many from game cover strategically placed to provide the best birds possible .Maize, millet ,sorghum, artichokes, sweet clover and chicory are all used to hold and flush birds from and in some cases provide feed throughout the shooting season. The drives are pegged for 9 guns but the shoot caters from 8 - 10 as required. Partridge, Pheasant or mixed days are sold, any can be taken with duck drives. Refreshments are provided throughout the day. An optional evening meal can be provided at extra cost. Evening duck and goose flights can be arranged. Muntjac stalking from high seats situated in woodland is also available. Fishing at St Ledgers Our season runs from 2nd Feb to early October. It is a syndicate water with a limit of 45 members. Both commons and mirrors run to mid 20's with commons especially, growing at a good rate, since top-up stocking three years ago. Biggest common caught 28lbs 12oz, mirror 27lbs 2 oz and ghost carp 22lbs 9oz. Full membership - Fishing any time, nights included £175 Weekday membership - Weekday fishing, nights included £100 Both categories incur a one off joining fee of £30 Three rods per person, no bait bans.
