When it comes to looking after yourself and your family it is important that you make the right choices. If you are looking for a form of healthcare that can be both complimentary and/or alternative to conventional treatment then you may be interested in homeopathy. Homeopathy is one of the most respected and widely used complementary therapies available anywhere in the world. It has always been popular throughout Europe, Asia and the Far East but is becoming more widely used in the UK as more people want to take control of their own health. Homeopathy works alongside conventional medicine and seeks to alleviate both acute and chronic complaints. In Britain homeopathy has received the patronage of the Royal Family since the 19th century and has been available on the NHS since 1948. It is one of the five alternative therapies recognised by the House of Lords (report of 2000) and homeopathic remedies have been used by about 15% of people in the UK. The World Health Organisation considers homeopathy to be the second largest therapeutic system in the world. It is taught in over 500 colleges worldwide offering degrees and post graduate studies in homeopathy. At present there are over 2,000 trained homeopaths in India and at least half a million across the globe.
